Youth Festival

    Government of of India organizes National Youth Festival every year in the month of January to commemorate the Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. As part of the programme various competitions are organized in 18 disciplines. The Karnataka contingent for the National Youth Festival is selected through youth festivals organised at district levels and State Level.

    District and State level Youth Seminar, Workshop and training and Dist. Youth Award:


    To create intellectual capability awareness and give guidance to the rural youth, Youth conferences and workshops are being organised for the members Youth clubs in Taluk, District and State level. The amount is being released to 20 districts to organise this programme and action has been taken to release for remaining 10 district and for the District level programme, with an intention to give more encouragement to those who have rendered outstanding services in the field of sports, culture and community development a scheme known as District Youth Award is being implemented.

    Youth Camps and Rallies:


    Youth Rallies are being organized in order to encourage the folk arts among the youths of rural areas in Karnataka State. These Rallies are being organized at Taluk, District and at State level.

    State Youth Award:


    In recognition of the Social Service rendered by individual youths as well as youth clubs, Youth Awards are being given at State for 10 Individuals and 2 youth clubs. The department identifies such youth clubs and individuals who are rendering outstanding services to the development of society in general and youth in particular.

Our Youth for Our schools

    Introduction: Around 63% of the youth live in rural areas; 24% of the youth are illiterate; Out of these,65% are young women; After SSLC 54.3% of the youth do not get formal further education. The gross enrolment ratio of youth who enter higher education is 13%. The above statistics show that the youth need to continue their education and utilise their capability in a creative way. Keeping the Taluk as a unit, the talent of the youth, their vision, service motto is encouraged; especially those who with their concern for the empowerment of the school, record special achievement will get a special mention. In view of the above, this scheme, “Our Youth for Our Schools” is formulated.

    Objectives
    • Providing opportunities for achieving working literacy for non-student youth.
    • Maintaining cleanliness in and around School.
    • Achieving the enrolment of children to schools cent per cent.
    • Keeping the playground in a useful manner throughout the year and making it available to the children.,
    • Organising training camps for the children in order to enhance their performance in the school examinations as well as to encourage them to achieve over-all progress.
    • Organising special campaigns for convincing the youth the necessity of taking up higher education.
    • Inspiring the youth to involve themselves in local arts, literature, cultural, sports, adventure sports and social activities.

    Methodology
    • Considering the following measurable achievement of the youth organisations at Village/Hobli/Taluk levels financial support not exceeding Rs. 1.00 lakhs per club per Taluk each year.
    • Overall development of the school/schools; Among children, enhancing the learning skills, personality development, cleanliness in the school premises, making a provision of necessary for the children.
    • Imparting the importance of education, the urgency to get enrolled in the school, Awareness about getting dropped out of the school
    • Making the people of the village realise the necessity of getting the necessary facilities for the village.
    • Bringing awareness about various schemes of the Government; The youth organisation needs to work as a bridge between the rural people and government agencies.
    • Encouraging the rural people in involve themselves in arts, literature, cultural activities and provide a forum for youth.
    • Supporting the youth interested to involve in sports, adventure and social development activities; They can be given information on the available sports, adventure and social development schemes.
    • The measurable achievement of a youth organisation for the last year starts from June month of the current year. An announcement will be made on this. Interested youth organisations can submit a baseline on their achievements to the Dist. YSED office. On the strength of the baseline, State Level Selection Committee will select an organisation.

    • July to June
    • At least one village and school in a Taluk

    Unit Cost
    • Youth organisations involving in the empowerment of local schools and providing necessary facilities to at least one school will be given Rs. 1.00 lakhs per year.

    Outcome
    • Local youth providing basic necessities to their peer (non-youth) segment. The school and village environment will be neat and clean. Toilets will be provided to village school; Importance of water harvesting will be communicated. The benefits through various government schemes will reach to the village folk. The youth will imbibe volunteerism.

    • The increase in the no. of youth getting admitted to colleges/universities.

Yuva Shakthi Kendra

    Proposal

    The impact of information technology and the development of the service sector has made the Karnataka economy at the top and the changes in the young professional arena in the educational sector was competitive, the young students giving much emphasis on academic examinations by scoring points and most importantly for psycho-physical supplemented with extra-curricular involvement in the sport is on the decline. In such a situation, career / education-based health for obesity, stress-related problems, such as diabetes and heart disease even mental pressure problems are also on high risk. There are a lot of problems facing by the professionals where they can’t do the physical exercise activities due to the lack of fitness centres.

    In the past, as the city / village there are more than on wrestling centres, where children, young people and adults with physical exercise activities was a way of life. Females can also potentially be involved in a variety of professions working in the financial, gross income support for drawing the business sector, the industrial sectors are demonstrating their ability. This is the background of the young women with physical health also aware from the outset to allow the physical ability to develop, it is necessary to enable the training.

    From 2014-15 the wake of the ‘Youth Centre’ is intended to implement the plan.

    Objectives
    • Young people, especially young women to provide basic amenities to enhance the psycho-physical capacity of the center of the scheme as a ‘Yuva Shakthi Kendra’ – gym, weight lifting equipment, Cross trainers, Cycles, etc. materials having fitness center infrastructure will be established.
    • Yuva Shakthi Kendra will be set up in place to comply with the following provisions.
    • Government First Grade College in the center of the selection.
    • College / Education Society should be an Co-education institution.
    • College should have more than 1000 young man / women doing study.
    • A physical director of the college should be in operation.
    • Young men / women should get the benefits of the individual in separate time duration.
    • 25 feet X 25 feet wide room should be available to setup yuva shakthi center.
    • The center room should be open to allow the interior.
    • The centre should be allowed to put the Department of Youth Empowerment and Youth sports panel at the outside of the centre.
    • The college should be prepared to pay for expenses for the management of centre.
    • In practice, the first phase of yuva shakthi Kendra will be introduced in 30 districts, later will be implemented in all the areas of the state.

    • Young people become more aware of health issues.
    • Growth in Psycho-physical health in young people.
    • An increase in the confidence of the young women.
    • Opportunity to engage in leisure activities for young people to come together
    • Greater participation in physical activity and sports.
    • Avoids youth in drug addiction and anti-social activities.
    • Substantial increase in performance of young people.
    • Increase in the involvement of youths in creating healthy family / social development.
