Pension Scheme

    Pension for former sportspersons

    Youth Empowerment & Sports Department has implemented pension scheme under Zilla Panchayat for the sportspersons who are in economically weak. Under this scheme State Level sportspersons will be given Rs 750/-, National Level sportspersons will be given Rs 1000/- and International Level sportspersons will be given Rs 1500/- pensions are being issued.

    Following are the 2014-15 revised pension scheme for the former sportspersons who are above 50 years of age.

    • General eligibility conditions for Pension Scheme:
    1. Applicant should be minimum 50 years of age. If the Sports persons are disabled during any of the sports or wrestling, then it will be compromised based on the documents submitted. Birth certificate should be verified & certified by the District surgeon of the Health department, Government of Karnataka.
    2. Cash assistance will be given to the sports persons who were born in Karnataka or who were resident of Karnataka for more than 20 years. Bonafide Certificate should be issued by District Tahsildar.
    3. Annual income should not exceed more than Rs 20,000/-. Income certificate should be issued by the District Tahsildar.
    4. Applicant should not receive any such cash assistance. If the applicant is receiving any old age pension, then applicant should add this to the annual income and income limit should not exceed more than Rs 20,000/-.
    5. For cash assistance, applicant should fill the prescribed form with passports size photograph and should be certified by the gazetted officer. Applicant should submit their details through district assistant director, youth empowerment & sports department and the district assistant director will make the influence through the secretary to government, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Bangalore for pension approval.

Insurance

    Youth Sports Insurance scheme

    A special and an innovative scheme has started by t he Karnataka government called “Youth Sports Insurance Scheme” to support sportspersons by encouraging youths from the state by providing accidental, health and to protect sportspersons. This scheme is implemented for all the sportspersons who are participated and represented Karnataka state in Inter-State, Inter-National and National Level.Eligible sports persons are requested to contact respective Assistant Directors of Youth Empowerment & Sports Department.

    Eligibility:All the sportspersons who represented Karnataka State and sportspersons who are studying in Sports School and Sports Hostel, Sports Authority of Karnataka and coaches of affiliated sports organisations are eligible.

    Age Limit:Minimum 07 years and maximum 35 years, for trainer’s 18-35 years of age.

    Duration:One year from the date of insurance.

    Premium:Insurance is free of cost for sportspersons (No fee is collected)

  • Funeral , children’s education or employment loss compensation
  • The details of all the other facilities, detailed outlines of an insurance policy will be provided to the sportspersons at the time of Insurance.

Cash Incentive

    In order to honour the athletes by the state government to give cash incentives to offer a single type of award for sportspersons who won the medal by representing the state at the national level and represented India in international level sports in different sports by Karnataka state sportspersons were scheduled for the cash prize.

Fee Reimbursement

    Fee reimbursement scheme for sportspersons participated in National and International Level

    This is a new scheme for the year 2013-14 and applications are invited in the month of July every year. The sports persons (Swimming & gymnastics sports from Standard 5th) who are studying from first PUC till graduation can utilise this scheme.

    Guidelines:

    1. The main objective of this scheme is to provide the fee reimbursement through the department for the indigenous sports persons who participated and represented the Karnataka State in national and international sports.
    2. The fees which are approved by the government (Entry fee, Tuition fee) will be given to Sportsperson who have won the medals in the National and International sports. Building expense, donation and any other fees will not be reimbursed.
    3. The corresponding year fees will reimbursed based on the previous academic year achievement.(If applicant is achieved every year then this scheme will be continued).
    4. The sports persons who are studying in central, state government and government approved colleges from first PUC till graduation are eligible for to utilise this scheme(gymnastic & swimming sportspersons from standard 5th till graduation are eligible).
    5. The applicant should submit the certified entry fee, tuition fee receipts from school/college principal through district assistant/deputy director, youth empowerment and sports department.
    6. The sportspersons who had won gold, silver and bronze medals are eligible to avail this scheme. The sportspersons who had won gold, silver and bronze medals in international level sports are also eligible to avail this scheme.
    7. For disabled sportspersons same rules will be applied.
    8. The sportspersons who are not resident, not studying and who have not represented the Karnataka state are not eligible to avail this scheme.
    9. The sportspersons who have participated in Internationals level by direct entry are not eligible.
